The first problem out there is the lack of utilization of new website technologies.  We designers instead keep doing what they have always done.  The longer a website designer has been in the industry, the more set in his ways he is.  They won't admit to it of course, but that's why they quoted you several thousand dollars for your website, before even discussing any custom programming.  We believe in and embrace innovation and our business is always changing.

The second problem is a lack of efficiency.  The website design industry is probably the best example of the cliche of re-inventing the wheel.  Re-inventing the wheel with websites is very expensive, and for 99% of the companies out there, that is the only way they know how to do custom website design.  There is a better way.  If you have seen a few websites that you really like, and that have features you want in your website, why would we need to start from scratch.  Instead, we would piece together all of the components you want in your website, design it the way you want, and voila, the website you were hoping for with a price tag that will make you smile.
